Why does my child need speech and language therapy?

Finding functional ways to communicate encourages and enhances successful communication, expression, and engagement. Treatment strategies correct and improve speech sound errors, speech clarity, speech fluency, language structure, language content, language complexity, and social interactions. All of this improves success at school and relationships at home and with peers.

Should I be worried about my child?

If others have a hard time understanding what your child says or if your child has a hard time understanding what other people say then speech & language therapy might be right.

How are services covered?

All services are out of pocket fee. Insurance companies may or may not cover a portion of the cost.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept medical insurance; however you will be given a receipt for speech & language services that you can submit to your insurance company. You will need to contact your insurance company to see if your plan will cover any of the cost.

Do I need a doctor referral?

No, you do not need a referral for any of the services.

Where are services provided?

Speech and language therapy and consultations are provided in the office or for your convenience in your home or child’s school with a slight upcharge due to travel time. Where are you based?

The office is downtown in Philadelphia. It is located on 3rd Street in between South and Lombard Streets at the corner of Gaskill Street.

How long will my child be enrolled in speech therapy?

The amount of sessions varys from chilld to child. Sometimes children are in and out within a few months and other times children remain in weekly speech therapy for a year or longer depending on the child and his or her speech and language need.

How long does a speech & language evaluation take?

Assessments will vary in length as they are tailored for each child. An in the office informal assessment could take as little as 30 minutes; however, standardized tests take longer. Additionally, school and home observations may take place, increasing the overall length of the assessment.
